Major Robert Adams Wilson DSO was a Rangitikei sawmiller (MSD Speirs), dairy farmer and breeder (Mahoe Friesian Stud) who served with distinction in France during WWI but his major contribution was to ornithogy. He made numerous trips to NZ's offshore islands and wrote the classic Bird Islands of New Zealand, and is also remembered for his deerstalking memoir My Stalking Memories and his war history A Two Years' Interlude. This biography combines material from his major books with family and local history.
