About 100 years, 100 lives

‘100 years, 100 lives’, is a collaboration between the Times-Age and Wairarapa Archive.

As the title suggests, the project presents the stories of 100 Wairarapa people whose lives were affected by World War I.
The first story will featured in the Times-Age on July 18, with one running every edition until the 100th, which will coincide with Armistice Day.

Many of the stories in the series have not been told before, so there will be a huge amount for our readers to experience and learn.

And they are about people from all walks of life, from a wide range of occupations, and from all across Wairarapa.
Understandably, a number of the lives in the project are of those who fought, but there are also doctors, nurses, housewives, farmers, carpenters, and even an objector.

There are Masterton stories, Featherston stories, Tinui stories, Mauriceville, Eketahuna, Carterton, Greytown, Martinborough, Pahiatua stories — and more.

The Times-Age and Wairarapa Archive are hugely proud to be bringing those stories to light.
